The new iPhone dev team "evad3rs" who consist of @pimskeks, @planetbeing, @pod2g and @MuscleNerd have coded a release date/time of February 4, 2013 12:00 noon EST into their website, http://evasi0n.com. Although most people speculated of a Sunday release (including us), it was all coded on the page the whole time! It only took a few prying eyes to discover it and figure it out.

The Chronic Dev Team has released a new tool called CDevReporter. It is designed to help find vulnerabilities in the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad in order to create an untethered jailbreak of the iOS5 firmware. The tool works by sending crash reports to a Chronic Dev Team server where they are analyzed by the team to pinpoint usable vulnerabilities. This is similar to how Apple uses the reports to find exploits to close.

Popular iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd announced, via his twitter, that a "very promising" unlock is in the works for the iPhone 4S. It looks like the Dev Team used the extra time off over the Thanksgiving weekend to continue working on the jailbreak and unlock fronts. This should make many iPhone 4S users happy but at the same time it will leave iPhone 4 users very unhappy since there hasn't been a new unlock for that device in over a year and since the baseband 01.59.
